Full and Partial Dentures
Full dentures replace all of the teeth and are designed to fit snuggly with the ridges and contours of the gum tissues. At Hudec Dental, we offer four kinds of dentures: conventional dentures, immediate dentures, overdentures, and partial dentures.
Conventional Dentures
Conventional dentures are removable and are typically secured with an over-the-counter denture adhesive. If you’re receiving conventional dentures for the first time, our one of our dentists will have to first extract any remaining teeth. After your soft tissues have healed (about two months), the dentist will fit you with custom, permanent dentures. We can design a temporary denture for you to wear while the soft tissues heal.
Immediate Dentures
For some patients, the doctor may be able to design immediate dentures. With immediate dentures, you won’t have to wait two months to receive the final product. However, you will have to come in to have your immediate denture relined after the healing period. This ensures a proper fit and lasting comfort.
Overdentures
If you still have some healthy teeth, the dentist may recommend an overdenture. Overdentures fit over the roots of the remaining teeth or over dental implants. Preserved tooth roots will prevent the jawbone from shrinking and resorbing as it does when teeth are removed. Tooth roots, or dental implants, can also be fitted with precision attachments to hold the denture in place.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures, also called partials, fit in line with existing teeth. Like full dentures, partials contain replacement teeth on a gum-colored base. For support, partials contain hidden clasps or precision attachments built into the framework. Partials are removable, or they can be secured to dental implants.
