Amalgam Fillings:
For over 100 years, dental amalgam has been the most widely used, and the most extensively researched, filling material. Amalgam can withstand the constant pressure of chewing, and yet is extremely malleable when being placed. Compared to other filling materials, dental amalgam is much less expensive, highly resistant to wear, and has a longer life span.
Tooth-Colored (Composite) Fillings:
Tooth-Colored (Composite) fillings have been primarily used on front teeth where appearance is very important. However, newer Composite materials are much stronger and much susceptible to staining than in the past. Composite filling materials are acrylic resin compounds that are chemically bonded to the tooth. Composite can be used for small or medium sized fillings. They are much more aesthetically pleasing than amalgam and can be matched in color to your own teeth making them virtually invisible. |

Services
Root Canals:
Endodontictreatment is often referred to as root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth pulp from the inside of the tooth and the canals of the roots. This procedure may be necessary if the nerve has been damaged due to trauma, deep decay, or a deep filling. If the nerve is unable to heal, an infection may develop at the tip of the root(s), and further damage could occur. After the pulp has been removed, and the canals of the root have been cleaned out, the tooth must be filled and sealed down to the tip of the root(s) to prevent infection. It is generally recommended that the tooth have a crown because root canal teeth no longer have a blood supply and can become brittle. Root canal teeth are still susceptible to decay, but will no longer have sensitivity or pain sensations if decay develops.
